| First, what’s
a blog?
A blog is the shortened term for a web log – or an online
journal, in other words. A poker blog is a journal kept by poker
players online, detailing their thoughts, experiences and other
information related to poker.
Is it good to start a poker blog?
This depends on the contents of your poker blog. Some players
commonly use it just to write down their experiences and meet other
fellow players. These people can then comment on what you’ve
written about and you may learn something new in the process. Other
players use it as a sort of poker directory where they keep poker
articles they want to share. Their poker blog then becomes an informative
site and it’s a good place to start as any when you’re
intent on learning poker. If, however, you’re writing extremely
detailed stories about your poker gaming experiences, including
what strategies you use, then of course this may work against you
as your opponents will then know what to expect when you come face
to face on the table.
Where should I make a poker blog?
There a lot of blog hosting sites to choose from in the Internet.
It’s up to you which to choose. Some blog hosting sites allow
you to edit the layouts of your page, some allow anonymous commenting
while others require you to be similarly registered before you’re
able to post messages or comments to the blog owner. Blog hosting
can either be free or requires a start-up cost. Paid blog hosting
usually have better features than free ones. It’s up to you
if you believe your poker blog needs more than the features a free
blog can provide.
How do I increase traffic to my poker blog?
You can do this in several ways.
Write interesting articles or entries. If a book is well written
and interesting, word-of-mouth alone can play a huge role in
marketing the book to its target readers. This goes the same
for poker blogs. When readers realize they can expect consistently
appealing articles from your poker blog, they will no doubt rave
about your site to their other friends who will then be curious
enough to check out your poker blog and so the cycle goes on.
Post pertinent information. If however, you’re an abysmal
writer, don’t despair just yet. There’s another way
to increase traffic to your pertinent blog and that’s by
borrowing content from other sites. Articles about poker are abundant
in the Internet and if you find something worthy of note, you can
easily post it in your poker blog just as long as you remember
to also include credits. If there are also poker breakthrough news,
post it as well as this is a source of interest to fellow players.
Now that you know what there is to know, what are you waiting
for? Let's start blogging!
