Conduct in Online Poker Rooms - Part 2.

If you are worried about using your credit card online, then you can sign up for a virtual credit card like this the card444, you can read more about the virtual credit card here: http://www.card444.com/ or by doing a search on Google for "Virtual Credit Card" or "prepaid Credit Card" Using virtual credit cards makes the online payments even more secure, I would however not worry too much about using the poker rooms own paym ent gate way with my regular credit card, so my advice is only to worry about these secondary options if you do not have a credit card or are unable to obtain a credit card.

Ok, we have now gotten past the initial installation and we have deposited some money in the online poker room and we have trained in the play money rooms to learn the particulars of the software. Now we are getting ready to actually go in and play for real.

There are a few problems you will be facing when playing poker online as opposed to a real life poker game. One is the stability of the internet connection, nothing is worse then sitting with a killer hand and bang, there goes the connection. This is luckily becoming less frequent with time; the connections we get now are getting better and better. But even if this occur, the online poker rooms has features to protect its players, typically a poker room would consider a disconnected player all in for the amount he has already bet in case of a disconnection. While this is not optimal, it is sure better to loose a major hand by being auto-folded. Again it is only all in for the amount already wagered, so you are not going to be in any further bets in that game. A rule like that could of course be abused by a player that disconnects himself when the pot gets too big and he already have a lot of money in the pot, so any particular poker room has usually set a max. all-in per game, meaning if you keep getting disconnected it will not let you join after you reach that maximum.

Another major problem is collusion between players, because the game is online and you can not see your fellow poker players, there is of course the chance that some of the players at a table are working together, telling each other what they got and what actions they are going to take. New technologies like VOIP(Voice Over IP) is making such collusion even easier for dishonest players.

All online poker rooms record the hands and actions of every game played, and they have software analyzing this data to spot colluding players, it is of course hard to prove, but when the software flags players as colluding players they will get a warning email and have their accounts suspended till they have taken action on the warning email. Some online poker rooms are of course better at spotting this than others, and the players on each individual table has the right and option to report any suspicious behavior of other players. As always, if something does not seem right at the table you are playing at, get up and leave the table, there are literally thousands and thousands of other online poker tables to choose from.
