Poker Tips for Beginners
But I won $1,000,000 in a Play Money room!
Even if you come out of a Play Money poker room game with a huge stack of Play Money every time you play, you should not expect to be able to jump in to high stake poker rooms and win a ton of money. After you master the Play Money poker rooms you should start in the limit rooms to perfect your skills with real money.
Wait for the Blind!
When you get a seat in a poker room, do not just plop down blind to get started right away, wait until the blind comes around to your seat, this gives you a little time to watch the game and the players at this particular table.
Start low!
You should practice in limit poker rooms until you feel comfortable with Real Money tables, I know the old saying "Time is money" - but in this particular case you will loose money if you do not take enough time to practice.
Low pots vs Big pots!
It is better to win a lot of smaller pots than to go for the big pots, your fellow players are much more likely to have a killer hand if they call or raise the pot.
Take your Time!
take your time, the worst poker player is an impatient poker player, you have to wait until your hand is good enough to call or even raise. You should actually fold somewhere around 80% of your pre-flop hands.
Don't call unless you think you can call another raise!
Chances are you are going to call someone else will raise the bet after your call, so you should be prepared to follow suit if you are going to raise first.
Seating Order!
The later you have to act in the round the bigger advantage, as you get to see what actions the other players take before making your own.
Poker Etiquette
Do never forget that you are playing with real people in the online poker rooms, be a happy loser and a humble winner, do not use profanities or otherwise get out of line in the poker room.
