Poker Twists

Poker has become a very popular game globally, more so with its tie-up with the World Wide Web. Because of its popularity and influence by many different players and cultures, some rules have been changed. Some have changed the rules to make it more fun for them or make it cater to their culture. Others simply want to change it because they would like to invent something new that may eventually make them popular.

Doesn’t mean that people change poker all the time means it’s bad and no longer enjoyable by others. In fact we should be more grateful of the thousand faces that poker has gone through. On a personal note, I’m glad the Texans developed the Texas hold Me Poker.

Aside from the Texas Hold Em Poker, here are some varieties of rules that some poker games have variations with:

1. The High Low Split – the pot is split from the highest and the lowest hand. The low hand must have a qualifier generally numbers lower than 8. Most high low games, the usual ranking of an unsuited broken straight usually win. In some variations of high –low a flush or a straight does not matter. What will win the pot is highest set of low cards from 5-4-3-2-A.

2. Anaconda – the players are first given 8 cards. From these 8 cards they will then give 3 unwanted cards to the player to the left. After which, they will again give 2 unwanted cards and finally 1 unwanted card. After the whole process of exchanging cards the players will discard their 3 unwanted cards. Then the players can opt to make a bet if they think that their 5 hand card is good enough now.

3. A kill game is a fixed limit game. The game is also played with an additional kill blind. The stakes are doubled when a player wins tow pots in a row.

4. Wild cards such as deuces wild or wild card 7 are added.

5. Players who do not want their cards can purchase another card from the deck called the “Tittle”

6. A stripped is sometimes played; this is more like the original poker where only 20 cards are used.

These variations to the rule of poker are only a few to name some. These variations are the most popular ones. However the most popular variation of poker that has been taking the world by storm is the Texas Hold Em Poker. This type of poker is also the one’s that are becoming popular in the online world too.

Try giving poker a new twist in your next poker sessions. With the fun that you may have, you may be the next big thing when it comes to poker. Just like gambling, why not try your luck?
