Rule Variations

To make the game a little more interesting, some guys tend to bend the rules a little. If you’re thinking of breaking the ethical laws or the judicial laws to make poker interesting, that’s what I’m talking about. I’m talking about the main rules of poker. Some guys create variations for them to either enjoy it more or explore the possibility of creating a new style of poker.

Here are some if the rule variations that has been known.

1. Big time spender variation – they actually call it spread limit games. They don’t have any limit on their increments.
2. Some tables are allowed to raise even when they are head to head; in certain tables they have banned this practice.
3. In a few places there are restrictions against check-raise – this is when a player that has already checked but further on, another player raises or makes a bet. The player who checked is then allowed to bet or raise. Always ask before starting if there are restrictions in check raise in the table.
4. Different card rooms may have variations on how the blind and betting round structure. If you play on a different place for the 1st time ask the manger the rules and structure.
a. Some variations are the pre-flop ones that to see the flop cards they pay $2 and an additional $5 to see the turn card then doubles to see the river card.

5. Jackpot games – some tables try to set up a side reward. For instance if a player is able to have a royal flush, he is able to get the jackpot prize.
6. High stakes tables – there is no betting limit. Beginners should try to avoid this kind of tables as most people who enter here are really sure of their money.

Not all poker places have the same rules. So don’t be an eager beaver and immediately join a table to prevent money loss. Always learn to ask more bout the rules of the place before deciding to join If your just there to spill out your money and show-off then go ahead.

If you’re an amateur, don’t immediately insist in joining tables with different set of rules. As this might confuse you and end up losing money. That experience may no longer turn fun for you and may scar the great experiences you’ve had in the past with poker.

Be wise about your money in poker and don’t take it too seriously. That’s why it will always be a game.
